Have you heard of Major League Hacking? They are the official hackathon league for students – or, at least, that’ how they begin in the market.
An organization made by hackers for hackers!
But in this case, the word “hacker” is far from being pejorative. MLH is a league of “good hackers” that, over the last 7 years, has had the mission of bringing hi-tech to other ecosystem lovers.
How? Taking hackathons around the world, but mainly in North America and Europe.
Two years ago, they won a spot on Forbes’ 30 under 30 list with their promising venture that, at the time, ran 200 annual events and brought together over 65,000 students per weekend. Today the numbers are even higher! Each year, MLH presents more than 2,000 events on its platform and receives more than 100,000 participants !!
The impact that the idea of Jon Gottfried and Mike Swift, both hackers and, friends, has on the technology universe is much greater than the project’s fame. More than a successful business, MLH made a difference in the career of many who chose the world of technology and who, without the help of the project, would not have had the same opportunities.
They created a necessary standard, a code of conduct and a hackathon lifestyle that made the ecosystem win the world and inspire more people (including us!) around it.
Today the league goes far beyond what the partners planned at the beginning and will soon be expanded to Asia.
